🔎 First, ARP: “Hey bro, who are you?”
ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) is basically the “address asking” protocol of computers.
- Your computer goes: “Who owns this IP? I need the MAC address, pleaaase!” 📢
- The computers on the network listen… The right one raises its hand: “It’s me!” ✋
- Then the data packet gets delivered to the correct door. 📦🚪
👉 So ARP = Asking the neighbor for an address.

ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) is like the “feeling protocol” of computers.
- When you “ping” a computer, you’re actually using ICMP. 📡

- The other side replies: “Yep, I’m here. Delay is this many ms.”

TCP by itself is the “reliable courier of packets.” 📦🚚
- Without ARP, it can’t find the address.
- Without ICMP, it doesn’t know if the road is clear or delayed.

- Ping (ICMP): Checks if a device on the network is alive and measures response time.
